If You Give a Child a Book ...

Did you know how well a child reads at the end of third grade can affect the rest of their education?

  • Through third grade, students are learning to read.
  • Starting in fourth grade, students are reading to learn.
  • Students who can't read at grade level by third grade are four times less likely to graduate high school-- 13 times less if they are living in poverty.

You can help.

Donating to the "If You Give a Child a Book... " campaign helps us give books to local kids and their classrooms. Click the links below to find out more and donate to the campaign.

What is #BuffaloStrong?

Our community is facing unprecedented times in the face of the global coronavirus pandemic. But when so much feels out of our control, there is one thing Western New Yorkers know they can always rely on: their neighbors will be there.

Now is when our "City of Good Neighbors" moniker matters most. Whether it's calling to check on an elderly neighbor or relative, supporting a local business by ordering takeout, or giving your time or money to those in need, together, we are Buffalo Strong.
