Hope you didn't bury the snow shovels to far back in the garage. You may need to use them one last time! The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Western New York from 5pm Saturday until 5am Sunday.

Temperatures will stay in the low 50s and 40s for much of Friday. The thermometer will begin to dip into the 30s a little past the dinner hour. You can thank the Polar Vortex for the cold and snow. Well, kinda!

Pieces of energy from the polar vortex to our north will break off and move through the area this weekend. On Saturday, an area of low pressure will produce a rain/snow mix for all of Western New York. Rain will switch over to snow late Saturday. It will also be cold enough for snowfall to accumulate Saturday night into Sunday morning, especially on the higher hill-tops of the S.Tier. Places on the hill-tops south of Springville could see between 2-4" of snowfall. Can't rule out a sloppy 1-2" for Buffalo metro area.

We'll be keeping a close eye on another system that will be approaching Western New York Sunday evening into Monday morning. This system has the greatest potential to dump a good amount of measurable snowfall all across the area. It all depends how far south or north this system moves in proximity to Western New York. If the center of the low stays to the south of Western New York, expect a healthy dose of snow. If the center moves north, milder air will move through and will limit any potential for snowfall.

In December, we only had an inch of snow out at the Buffalo Airport. Crazy to think, we could have more snow in April than we did in the month of December!
