When the Buffalo Bills renovated Ralph Wilson Stadium in 2014, it helped push the urgency for a new stadium — at least to them — back for a fair bit of time. Roughly $130 million was spent in various areas to the building, but that isn’t enough for the National Football League.
According to The Buffalo News, the league believes it to be “imperative” that the Bills have a new stadium to compete with the other teams in the league who have newer stadiums. One source told The Buffalo News that Ralph Wilson Stadium is one of the “three worst stadiums in the league.”
No one in the league brought up the issue to Terry and Kim Pegula at this week’s owner’s meetings in Boca Raton, Florida, but the report indicates that the NFL wants it to happen in roughly five years. When ratified as owners of the Bills, multiple owners made it publicly known that the Bills having a new stadium was important to the franchise’s longevity, and, the Bills new owners indicated to other owners that a new facility would be on the horizon at some point — although there was no official timetable.
