BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation continues to make progress on the development project at 201 Ellicott Street which will include a downtown fresh-food market and residential building.

Anne Duggan, a spokesperson for Ciminelli Real Estate, tells 7 Eyewitness News that construction on the new 20,000 sq. ft. Braymiller Market is moving ahead as scheduled and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2021. Duggan adds while the residential building on the site encountered "around four weeks" of delays because of COVID-19, the 201 affordable housing units should be finished by the summer of 2021.

Crews working on the affordable housing component continue work on decking, slab pours, metal framing and masonry. The foundations for the building housing the market have been completed along with electrical and plumbing work. Both buildings will be enclosed this fall.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown first announced his desire for a downtown grocery store at 201 Ellicott Street in 2015.
