HAMBURG, NY (WKBW-TV) — There are icicles hanging from the roof and snow covering the picnic tables, but the Red Top is open for business. That's mean's Spring and warmer can't be far behind. No matter that the temperatures are in the teens and the wind chill is below zero, The Red Top kicks off it's season each year on March 1st.

Lisa McNaney who runs things with her Dad says that because the restaurant faces the lake, they feel the full effect of Mother Nature. According to Lisa "you can see across the lake one minute, and the next minute it's covered up, you can't see it." adding "It looks like we're in that TV show Life Below Zero."

The Red Top celebrates it's 73rd Season this year. The McNaney's have owned it since 1980. Dennis says the first year they were there the wind was blowing so hard off the lake "I turned to my wife and I said-is this place going to blow down?"

Lots of people brave the cold temperatures just to get a "taste of warmer weather" according to Lisa. The Red Top is located at 3360 Big Tree Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 you can find more information on their Facebook page.
