Police in five different states, including New York, are on high alert for an Ohio man accused of shooting and killing a stranger, then posting the video to facebook.
City of Erie Police told 7 Eyewitness News a "be on the lookout" was issued late last night after Steve Stephen's cell phone was pinged in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The ping happened just before 10 p.m.
There have been no confirmed or legitimate sightings of Stephens in Erie.
Stephens has been on the run since police in Cleveland say he posted a video on facebook where he shot and killed 74-year-old Roger Godwin, Sr.
New York State Trooper James O'Callaghan tells 7 Eyewitness News says even with the ping, police don't have any credible evidence to help them figure out where Stephens is going, and that's what makes this situation so dangerous.
Communities are urged to watch out for a white Ford Fusion with temporary tags and anyone who matches Stephens' description.
If you do think you see him, O'Callaghan says it's important you call 911 so troopers can help.
"If you're someone traveling and you see a white Ford Fusion that meets the criteria, or you think you see Steve Stephens, do not try to take matters into your own hands," O'Callaghan said, "Please call 911."
