WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced an Orchard Park man has been sentenced for his role in a deadly crash in September of 2019.

34-year-old Daniel W. Witczak was sentenced to 6 months in jail followed by 5 years of probation Tuesday. In February he pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter in the second degree for his role in a crash in West Seneca that caused the death of one passenger and injured himself and two others.

The district attorney's office says Witczak was driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard in the Town of West Seneca on September 15, 2019.

The vehicle was found by responding authorities overturned about 100 feet from the road.

Witczak, his wife, and his brother were taken to ECMC with serious injuries. His brother’s girlfriend, 38-year-old Corrine Bennett, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to the jail time and probation, Witczak's license was revoked for one year and he must also perform 200 hours of community service.
