EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WKBW) — As Buffalo Bishop Richard Malone met with priests and deacons, more than a dozen protested in front of Christ the King Seminary.

Church whistleblower Siobhan O'Connor, survivor Michael Whalen and two former seminarians of Christ the King among more than a dozen protesting in front of the seminary. They called on Bishop Malone to resign and want reforms within Christ the King Seminary.

"We need to have Bishop Malone step down and have a good look at the seminary here. Something needs to change," Whalen said.

Former seminarian Stephen Parisi calling on parishioners to take action. "We love the church, we're not against the church, but it needs to reform and stop putting money in the basket," Parisi said.

As the protest began, the diocese announced Father Jeffrey Nowak was put on administrative leave. He was removed from ministry earlier this month.

"The Bishop talks about his transparency, but we have yet to see it and it's just so disheartening and disturbing to think we are no farther ahead than we were last August," O'Connor said. She continued, "It's just completely different from what is normally done and it makes you wonder what is really going on because they're clearly not following even their own protocol."
