BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — July 16 (7/16) may be a normal day in the rest of the world, but in Western New York, it's 716 Day! This day is all about celebrating what we love about living in the 716 area code.

Here are seven ways to get the most out of the 716 today:

Visit a state park
Did you know there are 18 state parks in the New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Office's Niagara Region? Find one near you on this New York State Parks map. Social distancing rules are in effect. Parks are limiting capacity and asking all visitors to wear a mask.

Say "hi" to Luna at the Buffalo Zoo
The Buffalo Zoo reopened earlier this month. If you plan on visiting, be sure to purchase your ticket online ahead of time. The Buffalo Zoo is using timed entry to help ensure social distancing, and face masks and temperature checks are required.

Take a ride on the Maid of the Mist
The boat ride that takes you close enough to feel the falls reopened last month. Tours are operating at 50% capacity to help guests stay a safe distance from each other. Find out more about their safety plan here. Tickets are available online.

Get ready to play at Explore & More
Explore and More, The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum reopened last week. Similar to the Buffalo Zoo, tickets much be purchased online before arriving. The museum operates in two sessions: 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Find out how they're keeping the museum safe here.

Visit the Aquarium of Niagara
The aquarium in Niagara Falls reopened to the public on July 4. It's using timed ticketing to encourage social distancing. The aquarium recommends buying general admission passes online ahead of visiting. Find out more information here.

Learn something new at the Buffalo Museum of Science
The Buffalo Museum of Science is open at 25% capacity. Its Golden Mummies of Egypt exhibit, making its U.S. debut in Buffalo, is in town all summer long. Masks are required, but free masks will be provided to anyone who arrives without one. Tickets must be purchased before heading to the museum, either by phone or online.

Support one of the local businesses that makes WNY special
From chicken wings to beef on weck to donuts, WNY's restaurant industry provides the 716 with its own flavor-- and that's just one industry! Take a moment to celebrate all the 716 has to offer by supporting a small business in your neighborhood. Get some ideas on where to go here.
