Governor Cuomo was in Dunkirk this morning, where he announced 1400 new jobs will be headed to the area. The Buffalo-based company Athenex will create 500 jobs at its headquarters in Buffalo, and 900 jobs at a new biotech facility in Dunkirk.
Athenex is a pharmaceutical company that specializes in cancer treatment. The company says the jobs will be "significant" and "high-paying."
The company's Buffalo headquarters will be in the Conventus building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Governor Cuomo called the Dunkirk facility a "game-changer" for the area. The entire project will cost $1.6 billion, and $200 million will come from the state.
