New York State Police have identified 81-year-old Volodymyr Halperin of Georgetown, Ontario as the driver of the tractor-trailer that rear-ended a pickup truck this morning on Interstate 90 eastbound just before 3:30 a.m.

Police say the pickup truck rolled after it was hit. The driver, 81-year-old Rush Addair, was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead by the Chautauqua County Coroner upon arrival. A female passenger, 21-year-old Iesha Lampton, was a passenger in Addair's car at the time of the crash and suffered minor injuries.

The crash caused a significant closure early Wednesday morning. The interstate was blocked off until just after 8:30 a.m., forcing drivers off at Dunkirk.

The accident was reconstructed by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and is still under investigation.
