On Sunday St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute won its second straight New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association championship, knocking off St. Anthony's 5-2.
St. Joe's opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Marauders forward Jeremy Ienco. St. Anthony's responded just minutes later, tying the game on a goal from Friars forward Greg Barnych.
St. Anthony's forward John Folenza scored in the second period on a two-on-one to give the Friars a 2-1 lead.
The Marauders responded quick with a tying goal from Mark Gilbert, but they weren't done. 44 seconds later teammate Spencer From scored on a shot that seemed to flutter in the air for an hour, giving Joe's a 3-2 lead.
They wouldn't look back -- Ienco scored in the third period and Luke Pierce added an empty-netter, securing the Marauders sixth title since 2008.
