BUFFALO, N.Y. [WKBW] — Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner is stepping up for Western New York as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

On Wednesday Skinner announced on Instagram he is donating $53,000 to COVID-19 related causes. The money from Skinner's donation will be added to the fund started last week by Bills and Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula.

Skinner's donation will help FeedMore WNY, which makes up the Food Bank of WNY and Meals on Wheels, the COVID-19 community response fund, and local first responders and medical professionals.

"To all of our healthcare workers on the front lines, thank you, and stay safe," Skinner said on his Instagram page.
