BUFFALO, N.Y. [WKBW] — Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel is once again giving back to health care workers in Western New York.

On Wednesday, Eichel donated 250 bouquets of flowers to nurses at Roswell Park in celebration of National Nurses Day and National Nurses Week.

“Nurses are some of the most selfless people in the world, and that is on display now more than ever before," Eichel said. "With the start of National Nurses Week, I wanted to send some flowers as a small token of my appreciation for the incredible work they’re doing. Their dedication to ensuring our safety is inspiring and hopefully this made their days just a little more enjoyable.”

Eichel's mother, Anne, is a nurse at Boston Medical Center.

Each bouquet of flowers included a message from the Sabres captain that said: From the moment I first arrived in Buffalo, I was welcomed by the Roswell Park family with open arms. Seeing the compassionate, life-saving care you provide has been really inspirational for me. Growing up with a mom who is also a nurse, I know how emotionally dedicated you all are, and I want to thank you for all you do and the sacrifices you make.

Last month, Eichel partnered with Bauer Hockey to donate 5,000 PPE masks to area hospitals.
