BUFFALO, N.Y. [WKBW] — It appears Buffalo Sabres defenseman Lawrence Pilut could be heading to the KHL in Russia. According to Sport Express, the 24-year-old defenseman is considering a potential move to Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL.

In two seasons with the Sabres, Pilut has one goal and five assists in 46 career NHL games. In 2019, Pilut played in just 13 games with the Sabres and failed to register a point.

While with Rochester this season, Pilut earned All-Star honors and had six goals and 17 assists in 23 games played.

Pilut is set to become a restricted free agent in the summer. There is a possibility Pilut is using this as a bargaining chip to show he wants to be a full-time NHL player. But if the reports are true, Buffalo could see the young defenseman head back overseas.
