BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Hey Bandits fans, there's some good news!
The National Lacrosse League is targeting the weekend of April 9th - 11th to begin its 35th season. The league hopes this will give teams enough time to go over health protocols and develop safety measures for the upcoming season.
“We are working with all teams to provide the safest environment and an acceptable level of fans in the stands. We understand that current circumstances will dictate whether this plan is achievable, and we will be prepared to remain flexible and pivot as needed," NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz said in a press release. "We want to thank all our players, fans and partners who have supported our efforts to stay connected and engaged during this prolonged offseason and are looking forward to returning to play in April.”
Teams are scheduled to report to training camp in mid-March with strict guidelines in measure. Some camps will be virtual and some will be in-person.
The 2019-2020 NLL season was cut short after the COVID-19 pandemicended play in March 2020.
