It didn't take Bishop Timon long to find their newest Athletic Director and Varsity football coach. On Friday, the school announced that Western New York native and former UB standout Joe Licata has been appointed to both aforementioned positions, effective immediately.
“I am honored to join the historic and strong athletic tradition of competitive toughness that Timon is known for, and the opportunity to mentor and develop student-athletes in the Franciscan tradition” Licata said in an article posted on Timon's website. “I appreciate the significance of the Athletic Director position at Timon and that I will be following in the footsteps of legendary Timon Athletic Directors such as Mel Palano, Jim Palano and Charlie Comerford.”
Licata, 24, replaces Comerford, who stepped down from both positions in late June.
“I love to work with athletes who hate the term ‘good enough.’ Good enough is the enemy of great," Licata added. “With immense pride and humility, I look forward to coaching at Timon and I welcome you to join me in this team effort; don’t settle, be great."
