BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — College football is right around the corner and on Monday, a University at Buffalo player is already being recognized ahead of the regular season.
Running back Jaret Patterson was one of just three Mid-American Conference players named to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award. It's an honor given annually to the nation's top college football player.

Patterson had an incredible freshman season where he proved to be one of the team's top runners. He ran for 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns during the season, the most in school history by a freshman. Following the season, Patterson was a second-team All-MAC selection and was named the conference's freshman of the year.
He and his brother, James, were interviewed by our 7 Eyewitness Sports team early last season. You can find that story here.
UB kicks off the 2019 season at home on August 29th against Robert Morris.
