AMHERST, NY (WKBW) — University at Buffalo running back Jaret Patterson is coming off a huge season for the Bulls and it's paying off. Patterson has been named to Maxwell Award preseason watch list, an award that honors the most outstanding player in college football.

Patterson rushed for a single-season record 1,799 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, both of which were single-season school records. In just two seasons with the Bulls, he ranks fifth in school history in career rushing yards with 2,812 and is one rushing touchdown shy of the school record.

Patterson has also been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list and earned a preseason All-America nod by both the Walter Camp Football Foundation and Athlon Sports.
