NEW ORLEANS (WKBW) — Former Buffalo Bills kicker Tom Dempsey died over the weekend due to complications from the coronavirus. He was 73.
Dempsey finished his NFL career in Buffalo, playing in 19 games in the 1978 and 1979 seasons.
The kicker, who was born without toes on his kicking foot, is best known for kicking a 63-yard field goal as a member of the New Orleans Saints, which stood as an NFL record for 43 years.
Dempsey had been living at a retirement home in New Orleans where 14 other people died due to coronavirus complications.
