BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Quinton Lucas have placed a friendly wager ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs meant to benefit frontline workers and highlight local businesses.

The mayor of the losing team will send food from local businesses in that city to be distributed to frontline workers in the winning city.

Mayor Brown stated, “When our beloved Buffalo Bills bring home yet another victory this Sunday, I plan to give our delicious wager winnings to the Soldiers, Airmen and civilian support staff from the New York Army National Guard who have administered more than 80,000 COVID-19 tests to Western New Yorkers since April at the Perry Street drive-thru testing site in Downtown Buffalo. These men and women have served our residents with distinction every single day since the beginning of this emergency to operate one of the most critical components in our fight against this pandemic. On behalf of the City of Buffalo, I thank them for all that they have done for our community during its greatest time of need. Let’s Go Buffalo!”

“We look forward to Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, and to keeping the Lamar Hunt Trophy where it belongs— Kansas City,” said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. “After the Kansas City Chiefs clinch the AFC Championship once again, Mayor Brown has generously offered to send famous wings from Manna @ Northland and Doc Sullivan’s to our healthcare workers and first responders at Swope Health to thank them for the critical work they’re doing for our community. In return, Kansas City looks forward to sharing our world-famous Gates Bar-B-Q, wings from Taps on Main, some great Made in Kansas City memorabilia, and 100 Charlie Hustle Kansas City-branded face masks to the NY National Guard members stationed at Coronavirus testing sites in the City of Buffalo. We appreciate their service to our country and the good people of Western New York, and know that every test brings us another step closer to beating COVID-19. Let’s go, Chiefs!”

Mayor Brown is wagering 'Mango Bam Bam Wings' from Manna @ Northland on Northland Avenue and 'Smitty Wings' and 'Beef on Weck Wings' from Doc Sullivan's on Abbott Road.

Mayor Lucas is wagering Kansas City Monarch memorabilia from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum; Made in KC snacks and Chiefs gear, 100 heart KC masks, and 100 neck gaiters from Charlie Hustle, Food from Gate’s BBQ and wings from Taps on Main.
