ORCHARD PARK, NY (WKBW) — "You find yourself when you lose yourself in the service of others and man, if there's a more truer statement than that."

Bills cornerback Josh Norman is trying to do his part this holiday season, giving back to a place that holds a special place in his heart.

"I'm compelled to do something," Norman said. "My passion goes beyond just words."

Norman began giving as a little boy in church. He loves to make a difference and hopes his latest mission, the "Buffalo Business Blitz", will do just that.

"I can't turn the hands of time to change something that has already been done given the circumstances that we're all in," he said. "But what I can do, is do something about today."

Norman announced an initial donation of $25,000 that will help struggling small businesses in Western New York. The goal is to help every business that applies, but after receiving upwards of 300 applicants, more needs to be done.

"Small businesses are the heartbeat," Norman explained. "It's the heart of every city and if somebody can get behind them and get on that train, how much better will we be as a community?"

Which is why he's calling on others. Norman's goal is $1M with each business receiving a $2,500 check. His teammates and coaches have pitched in, and now, he's hoping the City of Good Neighbors will do the same.

"What we're in for this, is to help as many people as we can," he said. "And if we don't meet the goal, then hey we're better off than where we started. So, for us, we really want to push that needle and get it out to the masses."

Norman is collecting donations through the month. If you'd like to help out, you can click here.
