Working out with baby - bonding at the gym

With all the demands in their lives, new moms and dads sometimes struggle to fit in workouts.  One Buffalo gym is making it easy to get that workout in, and spend time with your baby at the same time.

Revolution Buffalo has started a class called TRX and Tots.  Moms and dads use their body weight, and the "baby weight" of their babies strapped to their bodies to break a sweat.  It's a way to get in a workout and bond with your baby at the same time.

"The babies love it.  They come, enjoy themselves with their mom or dad.  And they interact with the other babies as well," explained Revolution Buffalo Co-Owner Rachel McCrone.

The moms and dads who take the class say it's a perfect opportunity.

"It's hard.  Working out is a juggle of priorities," said new mom Ashley Engl.

"Especially with working and coming home I just want to spend time with the baby," echoed mom Jenn Stachnik.  "It's tough to be able to fit in a workout as well."

A TRX and Tots, the babies run the show.  If they need to stop for a bottle or a snack, it's fine - the workout is all about what works for them.  McCrone says parents leave the class feeling refreshed.

"If your mind is good, your body is good, you feel good.  You can be a better mom, dad, partner, spouse.  It's really important to make that time, connect that mind and body, and to bring it home and be a better parent," she said.

If you'd like to try the class, Revolution Buffalo is offering a free class this weekend at Canalside.  Saturday, May 13th from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. instructors will hold a class using total body weight as well as "baby weight" to workout.
