WNY player of the year commits to Boston College

Bennett High School standout Isiah McDuffie is officially heading to Boston College to play football.

Alongside coaches, teammates and family on Wednesday, McDuffie signed his national letter of intent to play for Boston College.

"It feels great," McDuffie said. "The ultimate goal [was] to get to Division I, but I know I want to get further than this, so I am just going to keep grinding."

In 2016, McDuffie won the Connolly Cup, awarded to Western New York's top high school football player of the year. the former 7ABC Super 7 Athlete of the Week originally committed to Syracuse University, but had a change of heart.

"The coaching staff changed at Syracuse and I was really close to their staff," McDuffie added. "Things happen, you have to move on sometimes."

This season, McDuffie rushed for 1,531 yards and added 21 touchdowns. On defense he recorded 111 total tackles. During his career, McDuffie rushed for 5,529 yards and combined to score 69 touchdowns.

At Boston College, McDuffie will play outside linebacker.

McDuffie was a pivotal member of the Tigers and helped lead Bennett to their first Section VI Campionship in program history.

"[I'm] going to work as hard as I can. I'm going to grind, grind and grind until I can't grind anymore."
