The theater season must be here, Tom Dudzick is back in town. It's the fourth year in a row that the Buffalo-born writer is directing one of his plays to open the season at the Kavinoky Theatre.
The comedy is called Don't Talk To The Actors. It is based loosely on Tom's early experience with his play Greetings. It was produced off-broadway and starred Darren McGavin. The seasoned actor offered the young playwright some suggestions. Tom recalls "I figured he's a big shot, I have to listen to him, I go to my director and I tell him what happened and he says, don't talk to the actors".
While directing at night, by day the playwright has been able to work on his latest project a musical. According to Tom, "it's my first musical since I co-authored those things on the Showboat with John Cimasi."
Don't Talk To The Actors runs through October 2nd. You can find more information at the theatre's website.
