For more than three decades there has been an annual Groundhog Day celebration at the University at Buffalo.
It was started by a former staff member of the geology department Dave Borden and features a fuzzy rodent by the name of Ridge Lea Larry.
Larry has held up pretty well over the years, considering the groundhog was purchased by Dave from a taxidermist back in the early 80s.
The yearly get together features a cookout sponsored by the U.B.'s Geology department. It ends with a prediction by Larry delivered to the crowd by his handler.
This year Dave Borden put sunglasses on his pal and proclaimed, "Six more weeks of Winter."
