Look out if you live in the Village of Depew, you will likely see traffic delays for a while.
A major rehabilitation project on Transit Road between Walden and Gould Avenues is affecting traffic in both directions over the course of the next 8 weeks.
Just last week the State Department of Transportation announced that construction work would begin to remove a railroad bridge over Transit Road that would require them to roll out several traffic restrictions.
From Wednesday to Friday, that stretch of the roadway will be reduced to one lane southbound from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Lane restrictions will continue into the weekend, the following week, and beyond until the project is complete.
On Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m., drivers will once again be reduced to one lane in the southbound direction. Starting at 9:00 p.m., this specific portion of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions.
Drivers are encourged to pursue posted detours using Walden Avenue, Dick Road and Broadway during construction.
Beginning Monday morning at 5:00, lane restrictions will shift to one lane in each direction for the next two months, weather depending.
