Trouble spots Thursday night took the "rush" out of the rush hour.. While the lake effect snow was snarling traffic in many places around Western New York, causing motorists to spend hours in their cars, some folks were lucky enough to end up at Tops on South Park in Hamburg.

Jeff Winter the manager says his store provided safe haven for 30 or 40 weary travelers, "a lot of people stopped in and waited until the storm let up"

If you have the choice between spending 5 or 6 hours in your car or at a Tops Friendly Market with endless isles of food and beverages, warm clothes, restrooms and all of the amenities-it's easy to see why many stranded motorists chose Tops.

Michael Harlach an assistant manager at Tops was on duty during the storm and says the stuck travelers were in good spirits. He said "it was a funny atmosphere, typical Buffalo mentality during the Winter, people making jokes.

People making jokes about Buffalo Winter Weather? One thing that is no joke: when the bad weather hits Tops never stops being a good neighbor.
