Her title is Director of Wildlife at the SPCA Serving Erie County, but this time of year Barb Haney is more like "mom" to the many creatures who find their way here. They usually offer a temporary home for more than 600 cottontails a year.

Barb says when it comes to bunnies "we have to feed them like a mother twice a day - we have to make sure the formula is a perfect temperature."

This is the busy season for the Wildlife Department, and since the move to the new facility the department can service more animals than ever with the help of many specialized SPCA volunteers.

Last week alone they took in over a hundred animals. Barb says that her job is to raise the animals, and then get them back out into the wild and adds "that's the beauty of working in wildlife, it really gives you a sense of awe."

You can check out all of that great work at the SPCA Serving Erie County at their website.
