BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) — If there is a singing and dancing cat on stage and a few hundred laughing children in the audience, chances are you're watching a Theatre of Youth production. The crowd pleasing musical 'Pete The Cat' kicks of the theatre company's 48th season.

Artistic Director Meg Quinn says that producing theatre for young audiences is no child's play, adding " as a field it has grown tremendously and I've seen that. I've been able to be part of that for all these years." Meg was in the original acting company when the theatre began in 1972 and has been artistic director for 28 years.

'Pete The Cat' provides plenty of laughs and includes themes of friendship, responsibility and self-confidence.

Meg Quinn says that she picks plays and musicals that have "something important to say" and tries to find "what is it about a story that children care about. What is it that speaks to them about their wonders and worries in the world."

'Pete The Cat' runs weekends through October 27th. Tickets and information available at the Theatre Of Youth website.
