AMHERST, NY (WKBW-TV) — Tuesday nights are Tango nights for Dr. Alexander Gelfer. He and a dozen or so other happy dancers gather at Iacono Ballroom in Amherst to take Argentine Tango lessons. Alex says that he loves his job, but getting into the Tango the past couple years was "for his soul".

Alex says that it's great exercise saying "I have had two knee replacements and it keeps me in shape". What he likes most about the weekly get togethers is the people, adding "The community is a joy to be with, very open, nice people who really enjoy the Tango. This is their passion and it became my passion also."

Christine Hawrylczak is the dance coach. She says Argentine Tango is different from what you have probably seen on TV or at the movies "This is more of a social dance. This is more about connecting with people, with communication, with enjoying time together."

The classes for beginners and intermediate meet once a week. New Classes begin in March.
