John Morris Russell is into his third season at the Principal Pops Conductor for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio where he leads the Cincinnati Pops, but says he really enjoys his regular visits to Western New York, adding "it's such a special event every time I come here and work with this great orchestra and in this great hall."

They are getting ready for the next big concert at Kleinhans Music Hall called "Disney Fantasia: Live In Concert". The classic Disney animated film will be shown and the BPO will play the musical score live. The tricky part is making sure that the music and film are perfectly synchronized. "this is why I'm crazy." says the conductor with a laugh.

It may be a challenge to make it all work, but the Maestro says that this team of musicians has the right stuff, "it's a real tribute to our Buffalo musicality, there are not many orchestras that can do this sort of thing."
