New Kid is the title of the latest offering from the Theatre of Youth. The play deals with bullying, immigration and change. Creative Director Meg Quinn says the play was actually written thirty seven year ago and has been performed world-wide.
The story revolves around Nick a New Kid who move to America from a place called Homeland. In the play Nick and his mother speak English while the two American kids speak gibberish. Meg Quin says this was a brilliant plan by the playwright, adding "so the audience feels the same kind of frustration and worry about what's being said that the characters feel."
