There is nothing like the sound of a piano playing, especially when you don't have to do the work. That is QRS Music Rolls' specialty. Music director Michael Jones heads up the local operation and says that "at the turn of the century, the player piano was a neat technological advancement."
Piano rolls are still manufactured at QRS, just as they have been for over a hundred years. They are still using some of the original equipment. The manufacturing is done mainly at night.
While the rolls are still popular, Michael says that player pianos are difficult to find. That's why QRS has gone high tech, creating a computerized system called PNOmation 3 that can transform any piano into a player piano.
Michael says "we're poised for the next century. We've been here a hundred years and we're going strong." You can find more information about QRS at their website.
