AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) — Erik Chase has been cutting lawns and landscaping for twenty-five years. When he started his own company called The GreenerWe Property Care he made the commitment to go electric.
Erik believes he is the only lawn care provider who has committed totally to all electric equipment. He thinks that cost may be holding others back. His large, riding lawn mower cost seventeen thousand dollars. He says "It's a major investment, but I'm not just doing it for myself, or just for profit. I'm trying to lead by example."
According to Erik, the United States uses eight hundred million gallons of gas in lawn equipment each year, adding that "seventeen million gallons end up in the ground, poisoning your ground, your water and your kids lives."
His trailer is outfitted with solar panels so that he can charge his batteries. Erik say he was trying to prove a point "my is that it could be done."
