Taking comedy 101 at Buffalo's Helium Club

Taking comedy class at Buffalo's Helium Club

Looking for laughs at the local comedy club can be tough on your nerves, especially if you are a first timer. That's why some funny folks have signed up for Rich Lamb's Stand-up Comedy Class 101 at Buffalo's Helium Club. Rich says "it's a painful occupation, it's a lot of adrenaline."

Rich has racked up two decades in the comedy business. His students work through six, three-hour sessions where they learn the basics about being a stand-up comedian including "exaggeration, metaphor, the rules of three, the double entendre" says Rich-adding "hopefully no puns."

The class of eight includes a limo driver, fire-fighter, a drug counselor, and local actress and singer. The classes lead up to a "graduation" which includes performing for a live audience at the comedy club. Rich says that for most of his comedy students it's a positive experience "we set you up for success, we rehearse your act, we prepare you for the unexpected with a positive environment."

Rich Lamb's next classes begin in March and you can find more information at the Helium Comedy Club website.
