Frank Lloyd Wright Barton House back open

Posted

It's a one-of-a-kind house in "move-in" condition. But don't pack your bags yet. This is the Barton House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and located just behind the Darwin Martin House.

According to Executive Director Mary Roberts this was the first home built on the estate. It was a home for Darwin's sister Delta and her husband George Barton. Mary says "it's a wonderful example of Wrights early career Prairie architectural style."

The 1903 historic home is in sparkling condition thanks to a just completed 2-million dollar renovation. The place is once again open to the public and the Executive Director says if you saw it before the renovation "you'll want to see it again."

The Barton house showcases Wright's signature features including organic colors, attention to detail and windows that welcome in light and nature.

You may not be able to move in but you can get a good long look on the Martin House tours. More info available at their website.
