A 17-year-old Albion boy is facing attempted murder charges after trying to kill his grandmother at her home on Sunday.

According to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Foster went to his grandmother’s home on Oak Orchard Road and broke into the house by climbing on a chair and forcing a window open.

Investigators say Foster went to her bedroom and began attacking her with a knife while in her bed. The grandmother began fighting back, and was then put in a choke hold by Foster. She was able to break free and confronted Foster.

Deputies report Foster then stole $23 cash and a cell phone and ran from the scene.

While bleeding profusely, the grandmother was able to leave the home and drive to Medina Hospital, according to investigators. She was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight, where she remains in serious condition.

Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputies and Albion Police, along with several other agencies, searched for Foster in the Village of Albion throughout the night. Authorities were able to locate Foster hiding in the bushes behind Burger King and take him into custody.

Foster is charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and petit larceny.

Foster was arraigned and taken to Orleans County Jail. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Albion Court on July 11.

The investigation into this incident is continuing and further charges are pending.
