Solar City has plans to team up with Whole Foods, designing and installing solar panels for the stores.

Whole Foods says it plans to retrofit and add rooftop solar panels to about 100 stores across the country.

Each location will get a custom planned solar system. Installation begins this spring.

Western New York is getting it's first Whole Foods location at the Northtowns Plaza in Amherst. Construction is expected to begin this spring, but the town is still waiting for the permit to be filed. The store is expected to open in 2017.

Workers are back on the job at the Solar City site in Buffalo, after late payments from New York State caused subcontractors to layoff 200 workers.

One of Solar City's co-founders is set to be in Buffalo, giving a talk at U.B. on Wednesday, March 9th. Peter Rive will talk about Solar City's manufacturing and the future of solar energy.
