The Superintendent of the Chautauqua Lake Central School District is charged with DWI.

The Lakewood-Busti Police Department says 52-year-old Benjamin Spitzer was stopped and ticketed Sunday night.  Police responded after getting a call that a person may have been driving drunk.

The school district released the following statement:

"The Chautauqua Lake Central School Board acknowledges receipt of the information concerning Superintendent Ben Spitzer, and the board is not in a position to take action until such time as due process of law is completed.  Superintendent Spitzer is represented by private counsel in this matter, at no cost to the district."
