Students in the Niagara-Wheatfield school district are giving back this holiday season.
What started as a small Sociology class project has become a district-wide effort to give back to those less fortunate.
The Adopt-A-Family program consists of multiple components, all of which go directly to local families in need.
Students and staff have been collecting non-perishable food for the past few weeks, collecting nearly 2,000 pounds of food. That food will be split up among the 43 families that have been adopted by the district.
Another phase of the program: Adopt-A-Tree.
