The New York State Department of Transportation announced that rehabilitation work to NY Route 5 - the Skyway will continue, which will lead to traffic restrictions.

From Friday, April 6 at approximately 6:00 p.m., until Sunday, April 8 at approximately 6:00 p.m., the NY Route 5 westbound (outbound) ramp from Church Street will be closed. There will be a detour posted for motorists trying to access this ramp.

This will also result in the eastbound (inbound) NY Route 5, in the area of Interstate 190, going down to one lane.

Beginning Monday, April 9, at 9:00 a.m. eastbound (inbound) Route 5 between Outer Harbor Drive and Church Street will have the right lane closed. The closure is expected to last for four months. All lanes will be open during the morning commuting hours between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

For real-time traffic information motorists can visit www.511ny.org or call 511.

The work is weather-sensitive and could be delayed due to inclement weather.
