Lancaster Police are warning residents after a spike in car break-ins over the past several days.
Police say there have been a number of reports of cars being broken into, and money and property being stolen. Some people had only change taken from their cars, but others had hundreds of dollars taken. Almost all of the break-ins happened overnight, and most of the cars were left unlocked.
Here are a few tips to make sure you're not a victim:
- Make sure your car is locked and your windows are up
- Remove valuables from your car or put them out of sight, maybe in the trunk or a locked compartment
- Try to park in a well-lit area
- Watch out for suspicious people in your neighborhood
If you notice anything or anyone suspicious, you're asked to call Lancaster Police immediately at 683-2800, or dial 911.
