Days after P.W. Minor confirmed to 7 Eyewitness News it was considering layoffs, the company now says it must lay off 45 full time employees in order to keep the plant open in Batavia.

The employees are being laid off as P.W. Minor idles their Goodyear Welt manufacturing line. The company will continue to make orthopedic and diabetic footwear.

In a statement, P.W. Minor CEO Hundley Elliotte thanked employees for "their dedication, loyalty and hard work." Elliotte also said the company intends to re-engage the Goodyear Welt manufacturing line at some point in the future.

P.W. Minor has been in operation in Batavia since 1867.
