Lawmakers in Niagara County are putting pressure on Albany to act. They are formally calling for armed school resource officers, in every single school in New York state.

Niagara County Legislators came together at the Niagara County on Tuesday night court house in support of state funding.

The legislature's minority leader says they were motivated by the New York State Sheriff's Association.

Last month, the group was lobbying for SROs in every New York state school and that's when Niagara County hopped on board to formally support it.

The Sheriffs’ Association says there are about 4,750 public schools and nearly 2,000 private schools educating students in grades K-12 across the state.

The resolution passed unanimously across fifteen legislators.
