The Orleans County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a new phone scam.
Callers tell victims they're from the IRS, and that the person owes back taxes. Then the callers say the only way to avoid arrest is to buy ITunes gift cards worth at least $500, and give the caller the serial numbers.
Police are reminding you that the IRS will never ask for money over the phone, especially in the form of gift cards.
They say if you get one of these calls, don't give out any personal information, block the phone number, and report the call to the Sheriff's Office.
