Owl rescued from soccer net

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - The Erie County SPCA is caring for a young Great Horned Owl that was rescued after being tangled in a soccer net.

The owl was found just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.  Because owls are nocturnal hunters, SPCA officials say it was likely stuck in the net all day.

The owl was taken to the SPCA to be examined.  Wildlife experts say it was thin and dehydrated, but an X-ray didn't show any visible fractures or displacements.

A wildlife veternarian will take a closer look at the animal, but employees say it appears to be ok.
