New Era Cap is working with New York State to help its employees as it moves forward with plans to close the Derby plant.

The company says the state labor department will visit the plant during December to help employees with job-interviewing skills and resume-writing.

According to a statement provided by New Era on Tuesday, area companies have reached out about the impacted employees. The statement reads in part "While New Era continues to discuss the contemplated decision to discontinue operations at the Derby facility with the CWA, the company has become aware of strong interest from companies in the area in hiring the affected employees."

New Era recently announced it was planning on closing the Derby facility in February leaving some 200 people without a job.
