Music teacher sharing his love for the ukulele

John Radice says anyone can learn to play

John Radice has been musical as long as he can remember. At home he's surrounded by musical instruments, but he didn't pick up the ukulele until five years ago. He's been playing ever since and collecting ukuleles too. When asked how many he has he says with a chuckle "more than my wife wishes I had."

John gets a lot of music out of the four stringed instrument. He admits that the uke hasn't received much respect in recent years and blames Tiny Tim who made a career of singing "Tip Toe Through The Tulips."

John's passion and knowledge about the little music makers is something he likes to share. He gives lessons in adult education in Ken-Ton and Williamsville. He started the Buffalo Ukulele Club and says "we have twenty or so people who meet weekly and we play at nursing homes."

John Radice has posted some free video lessons at his website and advises people to stop wishing they could play an instrument and start playing.
