Men accused of shooting off-duty Buffalo Police Officer held without bail

Posted

The two men accused of shooting an off-duty Buffalo Police Officer and another man appeared in Buffalo City Court on Monday morning.

41 year-old Adrian Lias of Buffalo and 40 year-old Reginald Hokes of Charlotte, North Carolina were tried as co-defendants. They both pleaded not guilty and were remanded without bail.

Lias is accused of shooting an off-duty Buffalo Police Officer and another 28 year-old man outside of the Groove Lounge on Saturday night. Lias was charged with two counts of assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a loaded weapon and reckless endangerment. Hokes was with Lias and was charged with possession of a loaded weapon.

Both Lias and Hokes have prior criminal convictions.

A Buffalo City Court judge also issued orders of protection for the off-duty officer and his passenger.

Lias's attorney, Robert Ross Fogg, says the fact that an off-duty officer was involved in this alleged crime should not factor into the decisions of the court.
